TRAIN BABY SHOWER THEME

Here is an unique baby shower theme for a baby boy shower. My idea is a train baby shower. Below are some cute ideas to get your wheels arolling!!!!

  • Set up a toy train set (ask friends if you don't have one - someone's bound to have one)

  • For favors, hand out hobo bags filled with goodies. To make them, buy some wooden dowels and some bandanas. Put some goodies in the center (candy, bath bombs, soaps, etc) of the bandanas and wrap up and tie around the dowels to look like a hobo bag.

  • Sprinkle cute train confetti all around counter tops and tables

  • Train Centerpiece- Spruce up your table with this cute train pinata (you dont' have to use it as a pinata though)

  • Another centerpiece idea is to purchase a big toy train and fill it with baby essentials (socks, onesies, rattles, etc.)

  • Cover your table with a white table cloth and make train tracks with black construction paper or streamers running down the middle of the table. You can also place a toy train on the track.

  • Cut out sandwiches with a train shaped cookie cutter

  • Make train shaped cookies and serve as snacks or give away as favors

  • We found a cute train cake pan!

  • Serve food on blue or denim colored plates/napkins/cups

  • Float train shaped balloons all around

  • Dress a big stuffed bear in overalls and a red bandana so he can be the conductor

These are the ideas that I have researched and blogged for you all to see and use. Use these ideas as you wish. I have and it turned out pretty well.

After using this idea, return to this blogspot, and leave a comment letting others know how you feel about the TRAIN BABY SHOWER THEME.

BABY SHOWER CAKE RECIPE

Most unique baby shower themes, require some kind of cake. Whether it is a diaper cake, a baby shower cake, etc. It still requires a cake to add that special touch to the party.

Everyone loves sweets. So, why not make this a special baby shower cake for that special someone's baby shower.

Here are the ingredients and instructions on baking that special baby shower cake to add that pizazz to that unique baby shower theme.

Ingredients

  • 6 oz softened butter

  • 4 oz superfine sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 8 oz cornstarch (in England this is called cornflour)

  • 1 teaspoonful baking powder

  • 1 tablespoonful milk

  • Half a teaspoonful of vanilla extract (in England vanilla extract is vanilla essence)

  • Pink food coloring

  • blue food coloring

Yields approximately 28 baby cakes in patty cases

Instructions-

Beat together the butter and sugar until it is of a creamy consistency. Adding the eggs one at a time beat the mixture well. Next add the milk and the cornstarch and beat for a further five to ten minutes.

Add to this the baking powder and the vanilla extract and mix together thoroughly. Divide the mixture in half and put one half in a different bowl.

To one bowl add enough pink food coloring to make the mixture look a definite pink and mix. To the other bowl add enough blue coloring to make the mixture look a definite blue and mix.

Put one generous teaspoonful of the pink mixture into 14 patty cases and one generous teaspoonful of the blue mixture into 14 patty cases. Lightly sprinkle superfine sugar on the top of the cakes then bake for approximately 20 minutes at 375°F

Of course if you know if the baby is a girl or a boy then you can make all the baby cakes blue or all the baby cakes pink.

BEE, BUTTERFLY, FLOWER, & LADYBUG BABY SHOWER THEME

A flower, bee, butterfly, ladybug party theme is adorable!

There are so many cute possibilites! This shower idea works great for an outside day or evening baby shower. Maybe even have a BBQ full of hamburgers, salads and all the fun fixin's!

I have come up with some cute baby shower decoration ideas.

  • Start off with some cute table decorations!

  • Some cute invitation wording ideas are: Fly on over to ______ baby shower -or- Give us a buzz if you can come

  • For table centerpieces/decorations take mason jars and place artifical ivy branches in them, sprinkle pretend ladybugs, bees and fireflies in the jar (or glue to ivy leaves). Add a small strand of battery powered twinkle lights (if its an evening shower). Place the lid on top and viola! A cute baby shower table decoration! If you're feeling extra crafty, you can paint the lid to match the shower colors.

  • bees, bugs, ladybug party theme

  • Another idea is to paint some terra cotta pots, fill with florists foam, have your local bakery make you some cute ladybug, butterfly and flower cookies with sitcks in them, poke into the pots and top with green crinkle paper! You can give them away as prizes too!

  • For a favor idea, paint the lids of baby food jars red with black polka dots (ladybugs) or yellow with black polka dots (bumble bees). Fill the jars with little candies and place the lid on!

  • To make a ladybug cake, bake to round cakes, frost them red, cut the 2nd one in half and place on top of the 1st. Spread the two halves apart to resemble wings. Pipe on some black polka dots and place 2 small pieces of black shoestring licorice in the side of the second cake for antennas.

  • Using butterfly cookie cutters , make butterfly shaped sugar cookies, sandwiches & finger jello

  • Hang butterfly nets in the bushes

  • Float bug, flower or butterfly candles in a pond, birdbath or decorative bowl or tub

  • Ladybug Banner- let guests know where the shower is at with this personalized banner!

  • Butterfly Balloons- float some cute balloons around the room

  • Another wonderful baby shower centerpiece idea that also doubles as a baby gift is this cute ladybug diapercake!

SUMMERTIME BABY SHOWER THEME

Outdoors Baby Shower Party Theme Ideas
There is an excitement and energy in the air during summertime that isn't felt at any other time of the year. And when you throw a summertime baby shower party theme, that same summertime energy & fun will be felt by everyone you invite to the party. Imagine, for a moment, that you get a baby shower party invitation in the mail and it says, "It's a Summertime Baby shower Party!
Join us for an afternoon outdoors to celebrate Jennifer Smith's upcoming baby girl!" When you read this invite, what images come to mind? A beautiful, sunny day. Sun on your skin. Everyone in sandals & shorts. A cool breeze on your face. Ice cold lemonade. Tasty summer food. A baby shower doesn't get any better than that!
If you thought of any of those images, then you would surely agree that a summertime baby shower is the epitome of a perfect party and a wonderful way to celebrate a new little life.
How to Throw a Fun & Festive Summertime Baby Shower Party Theme
If you are planning on throwing a baby shower party this summer, then follow this recipe for a successful summertime shower:
1. You can use any baby shower party theme, but you do not need one. "Summertime" can be your theme and that gives you a lot of flexibility with the colors, decorations, food, games and favors.
2. Your colors should be bright, primary colors (no pastels). Combinations of bright colors are great, like reds & yellows, blues & yellows, raspberry pink & green, purple & green, purple & yellow, or Americana (red, white & blue). Your colors will be everywhere, starting with the invitations, then on to the decorations and favors.
3. Your invitations can be simple, or ornate - it doesn't matter. Just be sure to use your chosen colors. You could make a simple & easy summertime baby shower party invitation by matting one color of paper on top of a different color of paper. Then mount a piece of vellum or white paper on top of it all, where you can write or print the baby shower information. You can tie a ribbon or bow on the invitation (or paper punch two holes in the top of the invitation and loop the ribbon through). These are inexpensive but very cute.
4. Your summer baby shower menu could include:
Shish-Kebabs
BBQ anything
Hamburgers
Baked beans
Coleslaw
Cornbread & honey butter
Potato salad
Baked potatos (you could do a potato bar)
Corn on the cob
Vegetable platter with dip
Watermelon
Homemade ice-cream
5. For your summertime baby shower party favors, you could buy little, scented candles for your guests. Buy summertime scents, like sunflower, watermelon, strawberry, etc. Or you could buy little bottles of scented lotion. There are summertime scents like pina colada, pomegranate, melon, cucumber & melon, mango, sweet pea etc. Or you could also buy a sunflower bread mix for each guest (or buy ready-made loaves of sunflower bread at a bakery). This is a tasty & useful baby shower favor that each guest would love!
6. Baby shower party theme decorations should match your theme colors. The traditional party decorations are inexpensive and always fun - such as streamer, confetti, and balloons. You could buy a fresh bouquet of summer flowers to dress things up and to give your party a centerpiece. You could also decorate with summertime decor such as ladybugs, frogs, watermelon, sunflowers, sunglasses, etc.
7. Sumertime baby shower party games: The sky is the limit with outdoor baby shower games! You could set up a race course where the guests must race baby strollers with a doll in the stroller and if the baby gets knocked out during the race, then the racer is disqualified. The guest with the fastest time is the winner! Or you could divide up in teams of two and blindfold one guest on each team. Then the other teammate must feed the blindfolded guest a bowl of pudding or jello. The team who eats the most pudding in 1 or 2 minutes wins! You might want to give each guest a garbage bag to wear over their clothes because this can get quite messy!
Here are a bunch of that would be great to play outdoors...
8. Watch the weather. If it rains or is cold/windy, be sure to have a back-up plan with someplace where you can move indoors.
There is just something magical and fun about an outdoor party. So, no matter which of these ideas you choose, your outdoor summertime baby shower party theme is almost a guaranteed fun time for everyone. And it is one that your guests will not soon forget!

MEMORIES SHOWER

You can do many variations for this shower. In addition to the more traditional gifts, guests can create something for baby that is dated from the year he/she is born. Each guest can create a scrapbook page (or two) or small booklet for baby. These can include photos, comments (where the guests live, hobbies, current events, etc.), newspaper clippings -- you name it! Guests can also bring things to create a time capsule for baby. Best to leave some space in the capsule so a few things can be added after the child is born (a newspaper from the date of birth, for example). These gifts are sure to be treasured in years to come!

Another fun idea for a memories shower is for each guest to bring a baby photo of herself. Spread them out and see if everybody can guess who's who!

BABY SHOWER POEM

For every unique baby shower theme, you must have a baby shower poem. This poem will add something like an occassion. Below is a poem that will add reason to any unique baby shower theme.

A Baby is a Miracle
This tiny little baby
Was sent from God above
To fill our hearts with happiness
And touch our lives with love
He must have known
We'd give our all
And always do our best
To give our precious baby love
And be grateful and so blessed
Use this poem or write your own to add reason to your unique baby shower theme.

HOW TO DECIDE THE MOST UNIQUE BABY SHOWER THEME

When choosing an unique baby shower theme, you must consider seven (7) things. They include the following:
  1. Talk with the expectant mother about what theme she would enjoy the most.
  2. Whatever theme the expectant mother has chosen for the nursery is an excellent suggestion for the baby shower theme.
  3. Is the baby a boy or a girl?
  4. Is the soon-to-be mother expecting twins?
  5. Does the expectant mother already have children?
  6. Is the Mommy-to-be adopting her baby?
  7. Choose a baby shower theme that is fun! After all, this is a party!3

Having an unique baby shower theme can make the baby shower so much fun. It also helps create a feeling of constancy and gives everyone a focal point. If you don't know which baby shower theme to choose or you don't want to have one particular theme, you could use the general baby shower theme of "All Things Baby". So anything and everything that relates to a baby can be used in the decorations, invitations, gifts, favors, food and more.

The unique baby shower theme that you choose for your baby shower will affect every other aspect of the shower. It decides the decorations, the invitations, the games, the favors, the gifts, and food that you will have. So choose well!

COUPLES SHOWER

An unique baby shower theme could involve couples. Believe it or not, but many husbands would really enjoy going to a co-ed baby shower with their wife. A baby shower is a fun event involving friends and family, everyone celebrating a new little baby. Often, the father-to-be would love to be part of that celebration. This event helps him get excited about his new son or daughter. And whether he admits it or not, his heart will melt away when he opens up a baby shower gift and sees that tiny pink dress or that little pair of denim overalls.

Whether or Not You Should Have a Couples Shower
Simply ask the Mom-to-be if she wants her husband and his friends to be at the shower. If this is a surprise shower, ask some of his best friends if he would be interested in attending a baby shower. Overall, she needs to enjoy the baby shower. So if she doesn't want the men there, then that's the answer. If she likes the idea, though, then ask her husband if he would like to go.
Some men may even feel uncomfortable, which is understandable. But he might be honored by the invite and excited to participate. You never know until you ask! And if you do decide to invite the men, never fear! Here are some extremely helpful Couples baby shower ideas to help you plan the perfect Co-ed Baby Shower:
___________________________________________
How To Plan A Couples Shower
  1. Make up a guest list including both parents.----Have them both write out a list including both her and his friends. The male may seem a bit more comfortable with a few of his friends around.
  2. Decide on an unique baby shower theme that both mom and dad may enjoy.---Example: Sports, Cars, Outdoors, etc.
  3. Make and send out couples shower invitations.---Have the invites match the theme you choose-whether it is sports, cars, etc. Maybe you could make an invitation containing the father's favorite sports team. This lets the guys know right from the start that the theme will be something they enjoy. Also, having more than 1 guy there might make the dad-to-be more comfortable & more enjoyable. The whole "strength in numbers" thing. Be sure to mention in the invitations that it is a Couples Baby Shower.
  4. Plan the food.---This is one of the most (if not the most important) aspects of a Couples Baby Shower that you can plan. After all, the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. This will also indicate how much he enjoys the baby shower. Meat is usually a good choice for your co-ed baby shower food. Afterall, men are known by many of us as carnivores!. You may most definitely have something more hearty than salad and bundt cake. BBQ, casserole, or enchiladas are some good choices.
  5. Should I have some Unique Baby Shower Games along with this unique baby shower theme?---You could do it either way. This is a great question to ask the expectant mom and dad. Often the baby shower games are not played and instead, talking & telling stories & parenting advice is the replacement which makes for a fun, intimate party with friends and family. However, almost always, when the guys actually play the baby shower games, they really get into them. You may want to choose more physical baby shower games.
  6. What kind of baby shower favors & prizes are good for a Couples baby shower?---Anything Edible! Guys are very predictable, which makes your job easier! Candy bars, rice krispy treats, beef jerky, cinnamon rolls, etc, inexpensive t-shirts that relate to the theme (sports teams, wranglers, carhartt, etc) are fun favors & prizes. Other ideas include: packages of football, baseball, or basketball cards, movie rental gift certificates, pocket-sized outdoor equipment like little flashlights or pocketknives, etc.
  7. What kind of gifts are good Couples baby shower gifts?---The gifts at a co-ed baby shower shouldn't be much different than a girls baby shower. If this is the only baby shower a mom-to-be will have, then traditional baby shower gifts are a must, because she will still need all the diapers, clothes & burp cloths that she can get. But one or two of the gifts aimed at the dad-to-be is a great way to honor and congratulate him. Be sure to have the mom and dad-to-be sit together and take turns opening the baby shower gifts. This really helps him get into the baby excitement.

Some Other Fun Ideas For A Couples Baby Shower

  • Have a surprise baby shower for the dad-to-be at his office/work. Call 1 or 2 of his co-workers to plan it. He is sure to have friends at work that would love to celebrate & congratulate him on his upcoming son or daughter.
  • If he is into sports, have the party during a game where everyone can eat, chat & watch the game and then open the baby shower gifts afterwards.
  • Have a cookout BBQ. Any get-together that involves an open flame is definitely a party that men would enjoy!

HOW TO PICK A BABY SHOWER THEME

By ANN MACDONALD

Baby showers are just fun! What could be more joyful than a party to celebrate a new arrival? However, there are many things to do when you are the one planning the shower. The first thing on your list is usually picking a baby shower theme.

  1. Think about who will be coming to the shower. Will it be women only or will there be couples and families? If you are holding a co-ed baby shower, you could choose a theme that is a little less frilly and cute than you might consider for a female-only event. Since your theme can affect the food, games and decorations, you want it to be appealing to all of your guests..
  2. Another factor in selecting a theme is the shower's location. Is the celebration being held in your home, at the office or in a park? For example, if you are throwing the party at the beach or in a park, you may want to incorporate elements from those locations into your theme.
  3. It is critical that you consider the interests and preferences of the mother-to-be. You should choose a theme that will please her; consider picking a theme that will highlight her hobbies or just incorporate things that she likes, such as a favorite color or flower. Is she a big sports fan? You can work elements from her favorite game into your party plans.
  4. One way to find a baby shower theme the parents are sure to like is to utilize the nursery theme. Since they have chosen it for their baby's room, you can rest assured they will like it and it will make many of the gifts look cohesive with your party decorations. For example, if the nursery is being decorated in a Winnie the Pooh motif, you can easily find party decorations, accessories and tableware that also use Pooh Bear
  5. Consider the baby or babies. Is the new arrival going to be a firstborn or a fourth? Have Mom and Dad announced the gender? Are multiples expected? All of these pieces of information can help you pick the theme for your shower. For example, if a firstborn girl is expected and Mom loves frilly, feminine patterns, you cannot go wrong with a lacy pink design for all your decorations. If it is a shower for twins, consider a Noah's Ark theme with pairs of animals. Has the baby already been born? You may want to get decorations and favors printed with the baby's newborn pictures!
  6. Whatever you choose, make sure to have fun with the planning -- your enjoyment will be evident in the finished product. A happy theme will set the stage for an event that is sure to be memorable and a perfect welcome to the new little one!

Quick Tip---Unless the shower is a surprise, ask the mom-to-be for her opinion on any themes you have in mind.

ABC'S & 123'S

If the expectant mother is or was a teacher or educator, this will be a perfect and fun baby shower theme idea. This idea is also a great baby shower theme to throw for a 2nd or 3rd child. This is because the mother already has all the basic baby items like baby toys, diaper bags, etc. So, this theme could be a children's book baby shower to help her build her children's library. 1st time mothers also use this theme because it is so fun to decorate with alphabet blocks and dream about reading books to her baby!

INVITATIONS

Vellum is one of the most popular types of baby shower invitations today. Vellum is a thin, semi-opaque, semi-clear, milky colored paper.

How to use Vellum...
To make invitations for an ABC baby shower theme idea,
1st go to a scrapbook or craft store and buy some sheets of ABC, 123, alphabet, or school themed paper. There are all types and styles of printed paper that fit an ABC's theme. You may be able to get at least 2 invitations from one 8½ by 11 inch sheet. It all depends on how big or small you make the invitations. A 4” by 6” invitation is a recommended size. At the store, buy the same amount of sheets of vellum. You may want to buy some ribbon or metal brads. You may want to use either the ribbon or brads to fasten the vellum to the paper.

Now for the fun part! On the computer, type up the information you want on the invitations. You could write something like this:

Do you know your ABC's?
A is for Almost here
B is for Baby
C is for Celebration!
Come celebrate an ABC's Baby Shower for Danielle Henderson
May 25, 2007
1628 Anderson St.
Given By Ashley Holifield
RSVP to Ashley at 555-555-1254
Danielle and her little girl are registered at Babies-R-Us.
Or something like that.
Next, print your wording onto your vellum. You may have to adjust and play around with the printer settings to get it to print two invitations on one page. So before you start printing on your sheets of vellum, use blank white paper first until you get it just how you want it. Then, print off as many as you are going to need. Then, cut the vellum down to about 3” by 5” size with the wording centered in the middle.

Next, cut your ABC's themed paper to 4” by 6” size. Then place the vellum on top of the ABC's themed paper and fasten it at the top with two brads, equally spaced in the center. Or punch two holes, equally spaced (about 1-2 inches apart) in the vellum and the paper; then loop come ribbon through both the paper and the vellum.

Finish it by tying the ribbon in a cute bow on top.
You are now ready to send them off!!
Now, you do not have to use vellum paper. You may just as well print the wording on light-colored alphabet or school patterned paper!! Cut to your preferred size and you are done!!
If this is going to be a BOOK BABY SHOWER, be sure to tell the guests to bring along their favorite children's book as a gift.

ANIMAL THEMES

Using this theme can be very inexpensive. This can be a very fun event with cute little cartoon animals decorated around the room. When you this theme you will want to think about the mother to be. Does the mother-to-be have a favorite animal? Maybe a dog, a cat, a monkey, a bunny, bird, etc. That animal may perhaps be the animal for the occassion. Keep in mind the things that the mother-to-be likes and try to pick a theme based off of that. Animals are really easy to use as a theme. There are lots of stickers, cliparts, and fun games that can be based on specific animals. So, try this theme and tell me how things turn out.

TICK-TOCK GOES THE CLOCK

Time of Day –-

Create an invitation that looks like a clock and set the time on the clock. Make sure the time you set on the clock is different for each guest. The guest must bring a gift that mom or baby would use at that time of the day. If you set the time to 12:30 pm lunch time, a themed gift would be a breastfeeding pillow, bottles, or a food-mill to make baby food for an older baby. If the time is set to maybe 7:30pm, a themed gift would be baby bath or oil.
